Christmas Cookies

Last Saturday, Sarah, Rachel and I went to a Christmas cookie exchange! We prepared one of my families traditional favorites, Nutmeg Logs (the ones with the green frosting in the picture!). The girls had a fun time loading up our platter at the exchange and trying all sorts of cookies.

In case you want to try a new Christmas cookie here is the recipe for Nutmeg Logs:

1 cup butter
2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
3 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
Buttercream frosting

Cream butter, vanilla and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Add dry ingredients together and mix with butter mixture. Divide and roll into one foot logs. Cut each log up into smaller "log" cookies. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Cool and frost. Decorate with sprinkles if desired. Makes 4 dozen.

Hey, I think I recognize your cookbook holder - Tar-jay? The glass container you've got your cookies in is adorable, too - looks like fun!
