Last Week~Science

Last week we touched a little bit on pond life in science. We took a nature walk around a nearby pond and collected a water sample to observe. It was refreshing to get out of the house and into the fresh air, to be a part of the stillness of nature. Rachel had fun pouring the pond water into our little aquariam, but Sarah couldn't get past the little bugs floating in the water. On our way back to our car, Rachel found a caterpillar and wanted to take that home too, to observe. I told her okay, since we have a butterfly habitat, but she somehow lost the caterpillar and started wailing! Good thing no one else was around!

We also observed animal feeding signs as we have been studying mammals up to this point. We found a hedge apple that was picked at by some animal. It truly is neat to learn how to observe nature! There is so much that just passes me by on a daily basis, just because I'm not aware!
