Locals residents are making their way down to the Wabash River to keep an eye on its rising level - wondering if the levies will hold. The folks on the other side of the Wabash River in Illinois have a greater worry – their levy broke 4 years ago during the last flood putting thousands of acres of farm lands and accompanying homes and businesses under water.
Water levels are at a record high.
Conservation Police stand by on the Illinois side with rescue boats at the ready.
The river is almost to the top of the levy on the Illinois side.
Look from Illinois over to Vincennes, Indiana and the George Rogers Clarks Rotunda – the high point in Vincennes.
Large numbers of swallows make their nest under the old bridge. Each day is a flury of activity – swooping up and down, delivery bugs to their chicks and making nest repairs.
