Finger Knitting with Rachel

A couple of nights ago, I tried to sit down for a few minutes to work on my knitting project. Dinner was going to be ready in a little bit and I thought I could get at least a few rows of knitting in. As I sat down on the couch, Rachel plopped down next to me. "I want to knit too!" she said to me. Aaahh. What to do? Do I try and get her interested in something else so I could work on my project, or do I knit with her? It only took a few seconds to decide what to do! I put down my project and got Rachel's yarn out. We've been working little bit by little bit on finger knitting. Up until now, I've done most of the work, while she does a little. But, this time, she did most of the work. Progress is being made. It will only be a short time until she can sit down next to me, with her knitting on her lap, and we can knit side by side with our own projects, instead of me helping her!

Most of the time I don't see results in what I'm teaching my kids. Not right away I mean! Of course, the road of parenting is long and arduous. It isn't a road filled with immediate results! Finger knitting has been the same way. We had put it away for awhile and it was fun to see Rachel's progress when we got it back out! Yeah!
