I am in the process of gutting and re-doing the closet in our front entry way (it had never been insulated, has two outside walls, and was having related problems). Upon opening the wall, I found some paper wedged in that had been used as a shim. Since it was nailed in there, I had to rip it out, tearing much of it. But what I did get shows part of two advertisements from a magazine that was evidently published during one of the wars. Here's a scan of them below. Unfortunately, I didn't find any hidden money or treasure in the walls.

Eat a bowl of Wheaties and have a cigarette. Nice conflicting message. :) Look at the amount of type in that Wheaties ad, I don't think most people have the attention span to read an ad that long.
What a cool find! Old houses are such treasure troves.
